How do we know our assurance of salvation is true?

Answered in 4 sources

Our assurance of salvation is true because it is grounded in the objective truth of Scripture and the inner witness of the Holy Spirit.

True assurance of salvation comes from understanding both the objective work of Christ and the subjective experience of the believer. As stated in Romans 8:16, the Spirit testifies with our spirit that we are children of God. This testimony is not a mere feeling but is based on the revealed Word of God and its application in our lives through regeneration. Assurance is therefore both the evidence of faith and the confirmation of the Spirit, which work together to affirm our position in Christ.
