How do we know our fears can be beneficial?

Answered in 1 source

Our fears can motivate us to seek God more earnestly and deepen our understanding of His grace.

The sermon illustrates that fears can indeed be beneficial. For instance, when we have fears surrounding our election and calling, it can prompt us to diligently make our calling and election sure (2 Peter 1:10). This sober approach ensures that we do not take our salvation lightly. Fear can also lead us to grasp the necessity of Christ's redemptive work profoundly, urging us to trust in Him more wholly. As we confront our fears, they can become tools prompting spiritual growth and intimacy with God, transforming what is often seen as negative into profound spiritual profit.
