How do we know our hope is a good hope?

Answered in 4 sources

Our hope is a good hope if it can be explained, is based on God's Word, rests on Christ, is felt in the heart, and manifests in our outward life.

A good hope as defined in the sermon must fulfill several criteria. First, it must be explainable; a believer should be able to articulate the reason for their hope (1 Peter 3:15). Second, it must be firmly rooted in the Word of God, where true hope arises from God's promises (Psalm 119:49). Third, it rests completely upon Christ, who is our hope of glory (Colossians 1:27). Furthermore, hope must be experienced in the heart, producing genuine joy and satisfaction (Romans 5:5). Lastly, it should result in an outward transformation evidenced by the believer's life and actions, demonstrating the reality of their faith (2 Corinthians 5:17). Thus, a good hope encompasses both assurance and evidence of a transformative relationship with Christ.
