How do we know our hope is good and trustworthy?

Answered in 1 source

Our hope is rooted in God’s unwavering promises and the completed work of Christ, assuring us of its validity.

We can trust that our hope is good and trustworthy because it is rooted in the character of God, who cannot lie. As stated in Hebrews 6:19, we have this hope as an anchor for the soul, steadfast and sure. The prophecies and promises made in Scripture are fulfilled in Christ, who said, 'It is finished' (John 19:30) upon completing the work of salvation. This assurance is affirmed in 2 Peter 1:19, which stresses the certainty of God's word. When we place our hope in God, we do so with the assurance that He has proven Himself faithful throughout history, and His promises provide us with a foundation that will not fail.
