How do we know our love for God is genuine?

Our love for God is proven through obedience to His commands and love for one another.

1 John 4:19 says, 'We love him, because he first loved us.' Our love for God is not a mere sentiment but is manifested in actions. As demonstrated in John 13:34-35, Jesus commands us to love one another, stating that our love for others is a testament to our discipleship. In 1 Peter 1:22, we are reminded that purification of our souls leads to sincere love among the brethren, showing that love for God naturally leads to love for others as a result of being born again.
