How do we know our repentance is genuine?

Answered in 1 source

Genuine repentance is evidenced by the 'fruits of the Spirit' that manifest in our lives, as described in Galatians 5.

We can ascertain the genuineness of our repentance through the spiritual fruits that develop in our lives. The Apostle Paul outlines these fruits in Galatians 5:22-23, including love, joy, peace, and others, which are manifestations of the Spirit's work within us. If we are truly repentant, our lives will exhibit these fruits as a natural outcome of the Holy Spirit’s transformative power. Without such evidence, we are warned that our claims of repentance may be shallow or mistaken, as true repentance leads to a continual alignment with God's will and a desire to honor Him in our actions.
