How do we know our righteousness is of the Lord?

Answered in 1 source

Our righteousness is assured by the teachings of the Holy Spirit, confirming that Christ alone is our righteousness.

It is through the instruction of the Holy Spirit, referred to as the Spirit of Truth in John 14, that we come to understand our righteousness is of the Lord. The Spirit reveals to our hearts and minds that despite our sinful nature, we are made the righteousness of God in Christ. This teaching is vital as it directs us away from relying on our own works or merits, which are tainted by sin, and helps us to rest in the sufficiency of Christ's righteousness. Thus, when we are aware of our condition and the true source of our righteousness, our faith increases, and we can rejoice in our standing before God.
