Our sanctification is achieved through Christ, who was crucified, and by acknowledging that we are dead to sin and alive to God through Him.
The basis of our sanctification is found in Christ's work on the cross. Romans 6 teaches that when Christ died, we died with Him, and thus we are regarded as dead to sin. This pivotal truth is central to understanding our liberation from the power of sin. Our ongoing sanctification is experienced by reckoning ourselves dead indeed to sin and alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
