How do we know our sins are truly forgiven?

Answered in 3 sources

We know our sins are forgiven through the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ, which fully satisfies God's justice.

The assurance of our forgiveness rests on the redemptive work of Jesus Christ, who bore the punishment for our sins. Romans 8:1 states, 'There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,' affirming that our sins are utterly forgiven through faith in Him. In Matthew 18:27, the king forgives the servant’s unpayable debt out of compassion, which symbolizes God's grace towards us. Furthermore, 1 John 1:9 assures us that if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. This means our forgiveness is complete, not dependent on our performance, but anchored in Christ's finished work on the cross.
