How do we know our works are truly good?

Answered in 1 source

Only God can judge the goodness of our works, which are truly good when done in faith.

The goodness of our works cannot be assessed by our own standards; only God is qualified to judge what constitutes a good work. This is exemplified in the account of the unnamed woman in Mark 14, whose act of anointing Christ was declared a good work by Jesus, despite others deeming it wasteful. The key factor is faith—actions performed out of genuine belief in God’s Word are recognized as good. In John 6:29, we learn that the work of God is to believe in Him whom He has sent, underscoring that faith-driven works are embraced by God.
