How do we know perseverance is evidence of salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Perseverance is God's assurance that those truly saved will continue in faith until the end.

Perseverance serves as a foundational proof of genuine salvation in the Christian faith. The Lord plainly states in Matthew 24:13, 'He that endureth to the end, the same shall be saved.' This emphasizes that enduring in faith is a hallmark of those chosen by God. Moreover, in 1 John 2:19, it states that those who leave the faith were never truly part of it. Genuine believers will persist in their faith journey, exhibiting the internal transformation that validates their relationship with Christ. The profound truth in Philippians 1:6 reassures us that God, having begun a good work in us, will carry it to completion. Hence, perseverance isn't just a matter of personal effort but is evidence of divine preservation.
