How do we know prayer has power?

Answered in 1 source

Prayer is powerful because it connects us with God, who has the authority to intervene in our lives and who calls us to bring our needs to Him.

The potency of prayer lies in its function as a direct communication with God, who is sovereign over all creation. James 5:16 states that 'the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much,' implying that God honors the prayers of His people, particularly when they are earnest and heartfelt. The examples of biblical figures like Elijah further illustrate how prayer can lead to extraordinary results, showing that God often uses the prayers of His servants to accomplish His will. Ultimately, prayer is not about the prayers themselves but about the God to whom we pray, who has the power to effect change.
