How do we know preaching the Gospel saves sinners?

Answered in 1 source

Preaching the Gospel is the means by which God saves His elect, as stated in Romans 1:16-17.

The doctrine of salvation through the preaching of the Gospel is firmly established in Scripture. Romans 1:16-17 declares that the Gospel is the power of God unto salvation for everyone who believes. This shows that God's choice to save comes through the ordained means of the Word preached. In 1 Corinthians 1:21-23, we see that the message of the cross, though seen as foolishness to the world, is indeed God's chosen way to bring salvation to His people. God has sovereignly ordained that His elect will come to faith through hearing the truth of the Gospel.
