How do we know precious promises are trustworthy?

Answered in 1 source

Precious promises are trustworthy because they stem from God's eternal word and were secured by Jesus Christ's sacrifice.

In 2 Peter 1:3-4, it states that God has given us exceeding great and precious promises that relate to life and godliness. These promises are sure because they are rooted in God's nature and word—He is unable to lie (Titus 1:2). Furthermore, they are realized in Christ, whose righteousness guarantees their fulfillment. Because of His sacrificial death and resurrection, every promise made to believers is assured and will never fail. This divine assurance is a cornerstone of the believer's hope, enabling them to live confidently in faith.
