How do we know regeneration is real?

Answered in 2 sources

Regeneration is evidenced by a believer's new desires and a changed heart, which leads to a rejection of the former sinful life (Ephesians 4:20-24).

The reality of regeneration is observed through the transformative work of the Holy Spirit in a believer's life. When one is truly regenerated, they experience a heart change that affects their desires, interests, and behaviors. In Ephesians 4:20-24, the Apostle Paul emphasizes that those who have learned Christ cannot continue in their former ways without remorse. This newness of life includes a genuine desire to follow Christ and live according to His teachings, as well as a profound recognition of one's own sinful nature. The believer's new desires are evidence of the Holy Spirit's work, confirming that regeneration is not merely a theoretical idea but an active, life-changing reality.
