How do we know regeneration is the work of God?

Answered in 2 sources

Regeneration is the work of God, as it is not based on human effort but on God's divine will (John 1:13, James 1:18).

Regeneration is fully God's work, as seen in 1 John 1:13 where it states that individuals are born 'not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.' This indicates that the new birth is not a result of human decision or lineage but originates solely from God's sovereignty. James 1:18 reinforces this by stating that it is by 'His own will' that we are born again. Therefore, regeneration is not something we can accomplish ourselves; it is a divine miracle performed by the Holy Spirit, who breathes spiritual life into the dead soul.
