How do we know revivals are genuine?

Answered in 1 source

Genuine revival is evidenced by the preaching of the true gospel of God's grace.

True revival is marked not by emotional stirrings or popular appeal but by the clear proclamation of the gospel of God's grace. As demonstrated in the church of Colossae, genuine conversion and revival emerge when the message of Christ is faithfully preached. The Apostle Paul noted in his letter that he could give thanks for their faith because it was rooted in a true understanding of the gospel as preached by Epaphras. In contrast, false revivals are characterized by misleading messages promising peace without repentance, as seen in Jeremiah 14:13-15, which warns about false prophets who speak lies in God's name while neglecting the necessity of true repentance.
