How do we know salvation by works is impossible?

Answered in 1 source

Salvation by works is impossible because it depends on our flawed nature and contradicts God's holiness.

In the sermon, it is stated that because God is holy and man is sinful, salvation by works is altogether impossible. Scripture highlights in Romans 3:10, 'There is none righteous, no, not one.' This indicates that no human action can achieve the righteousness required by a holy God. If any part of salvation was based on human effort, it undermines the grace that God extends to sinners. As shown in the encounter with the rich young ruler, Jesus illustrated that acknowledging one's inability to save oneself is essential. Therefore, salvation can only be by grace through faith, reinforcing the need for divine intervention in our lives rather than reliance on works.
