How do we know salvation is for the lost?

Answered in 1 source

Salvation is specifically for the lost, as Jesus said He came to seek and save them (Luke 19:10).

The assurance that salvation is for the lost is directly taught by Jesus in Luke 19:10. He explicitly states that His purpose is to seek and save those who are lost. This means that those who recognize their condition of spiritual ruin and hopelessness are actually in the best position to attain salvation. Throughout Scripture, particularly in the parables of Jesus and His interactions with sinners, it is clear that God's grace is extended to those who admit their lostness, thus affirming that salvation is a reality for the lost - the spiritually reckless and distant from God.
