How do we know salvation is from God alone?

Answered in 4 sources

Scripture asserts that salvation is entirely of the Lord, as seen in Romans 9:16, which states it is not of him who wills or runs but of God who shows mercy.

The doctrine of salvation by grace alone teaches that God is the sole author of our salvation. Romans 9:16 declares, 'So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy.' This emphasizes that human effort or decision has no bearing on one's salvation; rather, it is the sovereign work of God. We are incapable of saving ourselves, as the new birth is a divine act of regeneration by which God creates faith in the heart of the sinner. Therefore, salvation is solely God's doing, resulting in His glory alone.
