How do we know salvation is more than just being religious?

Answered in 1 source

Salvation is confirmed by a true possession of Christ, beyond mere religious appearance or practices.

Paul highlights that many in Israel had a zeal for God but were ignorant of God's righteousness, leading them to establish their own righteousness (Romans 10:2-3). This indicates that simply engaging in religious practices is insufficient for salvation. True salvation is characterized by an indwelling of the Holy Spirit, where the 'stronger man,' Christ, takes over one’s life. Genuine conversion transforms the individual from within, leading to a heart aligned with God’s will, rather than just performing outward rituals.
