How do we know salvation is through faith and not works?

Answered in 2 sources

The Bible clearly states that a man is justified by faith without the works of the law (Romans 3:28).

The doctrine that salvation is through faith alone and not by works is foundational in Reformed theology. Romans 3:28 asserts that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law. This reflects a clear understanding that no human effort can achieve righteousness in God's sight, as all have sinned and fall short of His glory. The Apostle Paul articulates this in several instances, emphasizing that justification comes solely through faith in Christ. If righteousness could be obtained through the law, then the sacrifice of Christ would be rendered meaningless. Therefore, faith in Christ alone is the means by which we receive salvation.
