How do we know salvation is through grace and not the law?

Answered in 1 source

Salvation is through grace as the Bible states that the just shall live by faith, not by works of the law.

In Galatians 3:11, Paul asserts that 'no man is justified by the law in the sight of God.' This points to the grace-based nature of salvation, emphasizing that faith, not adherence to the law, justifies us before God. The law, while revealing sin, cannot empower us to fulfill righteousness; instead, it brings death and condemnation. In contrast, grace through faith in Christ brings forgiveness and eternal life, fulfilling the promise made to Abraham, as believers receive the Holy Spirit and are justified by faith (Galatians 3:14).
