How do we know Samson is a type of Christ?

Answered in 5 sources

Samson is identified as a type of Christ through his roles as a deliverer and the manner of his sacrificial death.

Samson serves as a foreshadowing of Christ in several ways: first, his life and mission echo the larger narrative of redemption. Like Christ, Samson experiences rejection and betrayal, illustrated through his choice of a Philistine bride, symbolic of God's love for His people despite their unworthiness. Moreover, his death results in the defeat of Israel's enemies, mirroring Christ's death, which defeated sin and death. Even in Samson’s failures, he exemplifies the grace of God, who uses flawed vessels to fulfill His perfect will, culminating in Christ, who alone provides complete salvation.
