How do we know saving faith is from God?

Answered in 1 source

Saving faith is a gift from God, as it is described as the faith of the operation of God.

Scripture articulates that saving faith is not a human endeavor but is of divine origin. In Colossians 2:12, it expressly states that faith is the operation of God. Furthermore, Ephesians 2:8-9 elucidates that by grace we are saved through faith, and that not of ourselves; it is the gift of God. This teaches us that no man can generate saving faith on his own because natural man is spiritually blind and cannot discern spiritual truths (1 Corinthians 2:14). Therefore, the faith necessary for salvation is procured and performed by God's grace through the preaching of the Gospel.
