How do we know saving faith is genuine?

Answered in 1 source

Genuine saving faith is marked by a heart that grieves over sin and trusts in Christ alone for salvation.

The authenticity of saving faith is apparent in several key areas of a believer's life. Firstly, true faith recognizes one's sinfulness and leads to genuine sorrow for sin, as David expressed in Psalm 51. Secondly, it acknowledges God's sovereignty and justice, where the believer is willing to accept God's judgment as just. Lastly, genuine faith results in a reliance solely on Christ for righteousness, without mingling personal works or efforts for justification. As emphasized in the sermon, those with true faith can say, 'in my hands no price I bring, simply to the cross of Christ I cling.' Thus, these attributes, when present, serve as indicators of saving faith.
