How do we know sensuality is a sin?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible describes sensuality as a manifestation of the flesh, leading individuals away from spiritual purity and into a life of indulgence.

Sensuality is characterized by a strong inclination towards fleshly desires, and it is indeed seen as a sin in Scripture. The apostle Jude describes sensual individuals as lacking the Spirit, illustrating how they prioritize carnal appetites over spiritual pursuits. This state of being leads to a degradation of spiritual vitality, as seen in Galatians 5:17, where the desires of the flesh are set in opposition to the Spirit. Sensuality not only defiles the soul but also dulls the understanding, making it difficult for individuals to discern and pursue spiritual truths. Furthermore, the Scriptures admonish believers to be filled with the Spirit rather than indulging in excess (Ephesians 5:18), highlighting the incompatibility of a sensual lifestyle with a life in the Spirit.
