How do we know sin is the greatest evil?

Answered in 1 source

We know sin is the greatest evil because it is the sole cause of God's wrath and has brought about all other forms of suffering.

Sin is unparalleled in its destructive power, as it is responsible for the fall of man and the introduction of evil into the world. It is this evil that drowned the old world, destroyed Sodom, and crucified Christ. As Paul argues, death cannot end sin, for even eternity will not rid us of its consequences. Sin is the only force that can render us enemies of God, which proves its status as the greatest evil. It is by understanding these impacts that we recognize sin's overarching significance and danger in both our lives and in the world.
