How do we know someone is truly born again?

Answered in 1 source

A true sign of being born again includes faith in Christ, the hope of eternal life, love for fellow believers, and an ongoing internal struggle against sin.

The true evidence of being born again can be discerned through several characteristics. Firstly, those who are born of God possess genuine faith in Jesus Christ, affirming His authority and redemptive work (1 John 5:1). Secondly, they are endowed with a lively hope of eternal life, grounded in God's mercy (1 Peter 1:3). A vital aspect also includes a commitment to love other believers, a reflection of God's love in their hearts (1 John 3:14). Importantly, there exists a continual spiritual warfare, where the believer experiences a conflict between their old sinful nature and the new nature bestowed by the Holy Spirit (Romans 7:23). Collectively, these characteristics identify the transformative work of God in the lives of those who are truly born again.
