How do we know spiritual regeneration is necessary?

Answered in 2 sources

Spiritual regeneration is necessary because all are dead in sin, and only by being quickened by the Holy Spirit can one have true spiritual life (John 3:3).

The necessity of spiritual regeneration is rooted in the biblical teaching that all mankind is dead in sin (Ephesians 2:1). As illustrated in John 3:3, Jesus emphasizes that one must be born again to see the kingdom of God. Without this new birth, no one can perceive spiritual realities or respond to God's invitation for salvation. The illustrations of individuals like Saul of Tarsus and John Newton highlight that God's power is able to revive those considered 'dead' in their spiritual condition, illustrating that only through divine intervention can people be made alive in Christ.
