How do we know that all men are spiritually bankrupt?

Answered in 1 source

Scripture teaches that all men, by nature, are without merit and cannot achieve righteousness on their own.

Romans 3:10-12 underscores the reality that there is no one righteous, no not one; all have turned aside and together become worthless. The natural man cannot claim any righteousness before God – he is likened to a beggar with empty pockets, devoid of good works that could earn his salvation. The sermon portrays this stark reality: we are 'beggars' wholly dependent on God's grace for salvation. Recognizing this need is fundamental to the Gospel, as salvation comes solely through faith in Christ, who provides that which we lack (Ephesians 2:8-9).
