How do we know that assurance is true?

Answered in 2 sources

Assurance is derived from faith in Christ and the understanding given by God, affirming we are His children.

Assurance is not a nebulous feeling or self-generated confidence; rather, it is secured through faith in Jesus Christ. In Colossians 2:2 and Hebrews 6:11, we see that full assurance is linked with a true understanding of the mystery of God and faith’s confidence. When we possess faith, which is a gift from God, we are inherently granted assurance because our hope is based on the promises of Christ and not on our performance. Romans 8:28-30 reinforces this truth, underscoring that those whom God justifies are also glorified, promising us an eternal and secure relationship with Him.
