How do we know that being unequally yoked is wrong?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible clearly instructs believers not to marry unbelievers, warning that such unions can lead to spiritual compromise.

The principle of not being unequally yoked is found in Deuteronomy 7:3-4, where God forbids His people from marrying unbelievers because they may lead them away from Him to serve other gods. This is further reinforced in 2 Corinthians 6:14, where Paul articulates the incompatibility between light and darkness. The foundational rationale behind this teaching is that marriage symbolizes a deeply covenantal relationship, and when believers unite with those who do not share the same faith, it jeopardizes the spiritual health and direction of the household. Hence, believers are called to protect their allegiance to Christ above all.
