How do we know that belief in Christ is the work of God?

Answered in 1 source

Jesus explicitly states that the work of God is to believe in Him whom He has sent.

In John 6:29, Jesus responds to the crowd's inquiry about what they must do to perform the works of God with a profound statement: 'This is the work of God, that you believe on Him whom He has sent.' This indicates that belief in Christ itself is a divine act, underscoring the significance of God's initiative in salvation. It is through His grace that individuals are enabled to have faith, fulfilling His will and purpose.
