How do we know that believers are made righteous in Christ?

Answered in 2 sources

Believers are made the righteousness of God in Christ as a result of being united with Him through faith (2 Corinthians 5:21).

In the same passage, 2 Corinthians 5:21, Paul emphasizes that just as Christ was made to be sin for us, we are made to be the righteousness of God in Him. This transformation is not based on our merit or effort but occurs through faith in Christ. When one believes, they are united with Christ, and this union allows God to declare them righteous, despite their inherent unrighteousness. The miracle of regeneration updates their status from condemned sinners to justified believers, signifying a radical change in identity due to God's sovereign grace.
