How do we know that believers go to heaven when they die?

Answered in 3 sources

Believers are assured of heaven as the Apostle Paul states in 2 Corinthians 5:8, 'to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.'

The confidence that believers will be with the Lord after death is rooted in numerous scripture passages that affirm this truth. Romans 8:38-39 emphasizes that nothing, including death, can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus. Believers can trust that upon death, their spirits go immediately into the presence of God, as indicated by Jesus' promise to the thief on the cross (Luke 23:43), 'Today you will be with me in paradise.' This assurance provides comfort and steadfast hope for those left behind, reinforcing the significance of faith in Christ for salvation.
