How do we know that believers have God's righteousness?

Answered in 1 source

Believers are made the righteousness of God in Christ, as evidenced by their faith and the work of the Holy Spirit.

The certainty that believers possess the righteousness of God is articulated in Romans 3:22-24, which asserts that the righteousness of God is given to all who believe in Jesus. This righteousness is not derived from human efforts but is a divine gift that believers receive through their union with Christ. In 2 Corinthians 5:21, it states that God made Christ to be sin for us, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. Thus, through faith, Christians are counted as righteous, reflecting the perfect righteousness of God rather than their own flawed attempts to attain holiness.
