How do we know that believers only see Jesus by faith?

Answered in 1 source

Believers see Jesus through the eyes of faith, as he is revealed in scripture and not through physical sight.

In John 14:19, Jesus tells His disciples that not the world but they will see Him because He lives. This seeing is not merely a physical vision but a relational and spiritual perception. Believers are granted spiritual sight, which allows them to recognize and understand Jesus as God manifest in the flesh. This faith-based vision comes through regeneration by the Holy Spirit, equipping believers to see Christ's love and guidance in their lives, even when the world is blind to His presence.
