How do we know that chastisement is a good thing for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

Chastisement is a good thing as it is intended for our profit, producing spiritual fruit and holiness (Hebrews 12:10).

The goodness of chastisement for Christians is rooted in its purpose: God disciplines us for our profit, aiming for us to share in His holiness (Hebrews 12:10). Just as earthly fathers correct their children, God’s discipline reflects His divine love and concern for our spiritual well-being. This process, while difficult, ultimately leads to the peaceful fruit of righteousness for those who are trained by it (Hebrews 12:11). Therefore, rather than being a punishment, God's chastening is a sign of His commitment to our growth and eternal good.
