How do we know that Christ came to redeem His people?

Answered in 2 sources

Scripture confirms that Christ's purpose in coming was specifically to redeem those the Father gave Him.

Christ’s redemptive purpose is affirmed in Galatians 4:5, stating He came 'to redeem them that were under the law.' This phrase indicates His mission was not merely to make redemption possible for everyone, but to secure it for a specific group—those chosen by the Father. This is reinforced throughout Scripture where we see that Christ accomplished the redemption of His people, as captured in Matthew 1:21, which says 'He shall save His people from their sins.' His coming was a distinct act ordained by God, highlighting the sovereignty of God's grace in choosing and redeeming His elect.
