How do we know that Christ can cleanse us from our sins?

In the account of the leper in Matthew 8:1-3, we see a clear illustration of Christ's ability to cleanse. The leper approached Jesus, acknowledging His power to heal and asking if He was willing to do so. Jesus responded affirmatively, saying, 'I will; be thou clean.'
