How do we know that Christ can deliver us from sin?

Answered in 1 source

Christ delivers us from sin through His sacrificial death and resurrection, which conquered sin, death, and Satan.

The assurance of Christ's deliverance from sin is rooted in His sacrificial work and the unmistakable power He wields over sin and death. In 1 Peter 1:19, we learn that we are redeemed with 'the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.' This highlights that only through His perfect sacrifice can we escape the bondage of sin. Moreover, the resurrection of Christ signifies His victory; as Hebrews 2:14-15 explains, through death, He destroys the one who has the power of death, and delivers those who were in bondage to fear.

Furthermore, communion with God and freedom from the guilt and dominion of sin is a gift granted to believers through Christ. John 8:36 declares, 'If the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed,' signifying that true liberation is found in Christ alone. His victory over sin not only covers our past transgressions but also equips us to live in newness of life free from sin's reign. In sum, we know Christ can deliver us because the Scriptures testify to His triumph over our greatest enemies and offer the gift of grace to those who believe in Him.
