How do we know that Christ cares for us during trials?

Answered in 1 source

Christ assures us of His constant care, reminding us that He knows our works and hardships.

In Revelation 2:9, Christ expresses His intimate knowledge of the struggles faced by the church at Smyrna, stating, 'I know thy works and tribulation and poverty.' This assurance serves to comfort believers by affirming that Christ is fully aware of their circumstances. His omniscience provides believers with the certainty that their hardships are not unnoticed, but instead are within His sovereign control. The knowledge that Christ cares according to His infinite wisdom and love encourages Christians to persevere, even when their trials seem overwhelming. This assurance enables believers to face persecution courageously, as they trust in His faithfulness.
