How do we know that Christ fulfilled all righteousness?

Answered in 1 source

Christ fulfilled all righteousness through His baptism, as He perfectly obeyed the will of the Father.

In Matthew 3:13-17, we see Jesus coming to be baptized by John the Baptist. John initially resisted, recognizing Jesus’ sinlessness, but Jesus insisted it was necessary to 'fulfill all righteousness.' This moment signifies Jesus's obedience to the Father and demonstrates that He, alone, could fulfill the righteous requirements of the law on our behalf. Sovereign Grace theology emphasizes that we cannot fulfill righteousness by our works; rather, we are only justified through Christ's righteousness imputed to us. This underscores the absolute necessity of recognizing Christ as the one who perfectly meets every demand of God’s holy law, allowing us, through faith, to stand justified before God.
