How do we know that Christ fulfills the Old Testament sacrifices?

Answered in 1 source

Christ fulfills the Old Testament sacrifices by being the perfect sacrifice for sin, which the previous sacrifices only symbolized.

The Old Testament sacrifices, such as those detailed in the Mosaic Law, were shadows pointing toward the ultimate sacrifice of Christ. Hebrews 10:4 states, 'It is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away sins.' Rather, these sacrifices were types that foreshadowed Christ’s atoning work on the cross. When Christ came and offered Himself, He fulfilled all the requirements of the law and became the ultimate sacrifice, thus rendering the previous sacrifices obsolete. As stated in Matthew 5:17, Christ came not to abolish the Law but to fulfill it, signifying that the law’s purpose was complete in Him.
