How do we know that Christ fulfills the promise of rest?

Answered in 1 source

Christ is the ultimate fulfillment of the promise of rest, as He provides eternal repose for His people through His completed work.

The promise of rest is fulfilled in Christ, as He is described in Hebrews 4 as the one who offers a true and lasting rest. The rest that Joshua provided was temporary and a shadow of the greater rest Christ would provide. When Christ completed His redemptive work and sat down at the right hand of God, He accomplished everything needed for our salvation. Hebrews 4:10 affirms that those who enter His rest cease from their own works, signifying the sufficiency of His sacrifice. Thus, the ongoing promise of rest remains a vital assurance for every believer.
