How do we know that Christ fulfills the role of the covenant?

Answered in 1 source

Christ is described as the embodiment of God's new covenant, fulfilling the promise of salvation for God's elect (Isaiah 42:6-7).

In Isaiah 42:6-7, God declares that He has given Christ as a covenant for the people, connecting His role directly to the new covenant established through His blood. This new covenant, prophesied in Jeremiah 31:31-34, is a covenant of grace that replaces the conditional covenants of the Old Testament. It encompasses all the blessings that flow from a relationship with God through Christ. Being chosen 'in Him' means that all believers are included in this gracious appointment, assuring that God's promises are guaranteed and that He will keep them without fail.
