How do we know that Christ has the authority to save?

Answered in 2 sources

Christ's authority to save is established through His perfect obedience and sacrificial death, fulfilling God's law (Romans 5:19).

We know that Christ has the authority to save because He has earned that authority through His obedience and sacrifice. Romans 5:19 states that 'by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.' Christ's life was characterized by perfect obedience, culminating in His atoning death on the cross, which satisfied the law and justice of God on behalf of His elect. This accomplishment grants Him the authority to bring eternal life to all whom the Father has given Him (John 17:2), demonstrating that His authority in salvation is not self-appointed, but divinely bestowed.
