How do we know that Christ is God?

Answered in 13 sources

Christ is affirmed as God through scripture that states He is worshiped as God, does the works of God, and is called God by the prophets and apostles.

The affirmation that Jesus Christ is God comes from multiple scriptural attestations. Throughout both the Old and New Testaments, believers identify Him as God. For instance, in John 5, Christ claims equality with God, which leads others to attempt to stone Him for blasphemy. Additionally, He fulfills roles such as creator and sustainer, which are exclusive attributes of God. The interplay of His divine and human natures is critical; only as God incarnate can Christ serve as our Savior, undertaking the work of redemption through His sacrificial death, showing He is indeed divine.
