How do we know that Christ is Lord of the Sabbath?

Answered in 1 source

We know Christ is Lord of the Sabbath because He affirmed His authority over it by declaring that He instituted and fulfilled its purpose.

In Mark 2:28, Jesus claims, 'Therefore the Son of Man is Lord also of the Sabbath.' This assertion indicates His authority over the Sabbath as He, being the incarnate Word, not only instituted the Sabbath but also fulfilled its true meaning. Christ is the embodiment of rest; thus, His lordship signifies that the Sabbath is not to be treated as a mere legalistic observance. Believers in Christ find their rest and salvation in Him, which transcends the old covenant's requirements for Sabbath observance. As such, Christians are encouraged to embrace the rest of faith found in Christ rather than adhering to the ceremonialistic laws of the Jewish Sabbath.
